Mother’s Day dilemma solved

I’m looking for a place to take my mom and grandmother to on Mother’s Day. I want this to be a special day for two mothers I love dearly. Recently, my grandmother became ill and can’t travel too far. All my other siblings live out of the state.

I want to do it up big and give them the best Sunday ever. I’d like to take them to a nice spot in Miami. (We live in Broward). But, my grandmother, like most grandmothers, is picky as hell. Not only that, she doesn’t like it when people spend a lot of money on her. It makes her feel uncomfortable. Oh, and my grandmother is known to cancel an outing while in route. I love my mom. I love my grandmother. Where do you suggest we eat on Mother’s Day?

Thanks in advance,
Grandson on a mission

Dear Grandson on a mission,

As long as you can get grandma out the house, then I suggest Chef Allen’s in Aventura. The modern seafood grill is hosting a brunch and dinner, which means you have two shots at convincing mommy dearest to wise up and let her grandson treat her like the queen she is.

Chef Allen’s is worth the trip for these reasons:

  • The place is sectioned into two areas, which makes dining there feel intimate
  • The food is delicately prepared and always tasty, unique and memorable
  • It’s also close to where you live in Broward
  • The food is always reasonably priced

The brunch menu pricing has not yet been released. A regular menu and three-course, price-fixed menu will be available for brunch and dinner.

The fixed-dinner price is $59 and includes items such as the lobster mac and cheese, warm wild mushroom salad, pistachio-crusted mahi mahi, grilled swordfish, steak and eggs, upside down Key lime pie, chocolate banana bread pudding, a bacon, guava and goat cheese pastelito and more.

Chef Allen’s (web site)
Address: 19088 NE 29th Ave. Aventura; 305-935-2900
Brunch will be served from noon to 3 p.m. Dinner will be served from 5 to 9 p.m.
